A glass sphere is the most forgiving pendant shape there is. It has no front, no back and no correct orientation, which means it works over a round table, in a stairwell, in a corner or in a row without ever looking wrongly placed. This version uses tinted glass, so the sphere carries colour in daylight and glows through it after dark.

The tint changes what the fitting does. Clear glass shows the bulb and makes the filament the focus. Tinted glass softens the source and turns the whole sphere into the light, which is more comfortable to sit beneath and far more interesting to look at when the light is off. Smoke grey is the most neutral, blue the coolest, brown the warmest and red the most present.

Two diameters are available. The 15 cm sphere suits a bedside, a hallway or a run of three above a narrow island. The 20 cm sphere carries a dining table or an entrance on its own. Cable length is adjustable at installation, which matters more with spheres than with other shapes, since a globe hung at the wrong height looks obviously wrong. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
