Brooks Tabletop Photo Frame

Brooks was drawn from the frames you find in old studies and secondhand shops, where the wood has darkened with age and the metal fittings have worn to a soft shine. The profile is narrow so the picture stays the subject, and the brass corner detail catches enough light to lift the frame off a crowded shelf without turning it into an ornament in its own right.

The wood is finished in either teak or black walnut. Teak reads lighter and warmer and works well against pale walls and oak furniture. Black walnut is deeper and cooler, and it holds up better against darker paint and richer textiles. Both are sealed rather than lacquered, so the grain stays visible and the surface keeps a matte, hand finished feel.

Six sizes run from a small 9 by 13 cm print up to a 25 by 30 cm portrait, which means a whole shelf or console can be built out in one material. Each frame comes with a hinged rear stand for tabletop display. Keep the frames out of direct sunlight, which fades photographs long before it damages the wood. Mixing two or three sizes of the same finish along a shelf reads far better than lining up identical frames in a row.
