Closed, Lumibook is a slim wooden book. Opened, the covers rotate a full 360 degrees and the pages between them light up, turning it into a cylinder, a fan, or a flat sheet of glow depending on how far you take it. It is the rare object that is genuinely satisfying to operate, which is not something you can say about many lamps.

The light comes from the paper pages themselves rather than a bulb behind them, so the output is completely even with no visible source and no glare from any angle. That makes it comfortable to leave on a bedside table at low level, and the fully opened cylinder form gives enough soft light to move around a room by without waking anyone.

It is cordless and charges over USB, so it can be carried between rooms or packed into a bag. Three sizes are available, from a pocket format up to a 22 cm version with noticeably more output. Wood and brown covers are both offered. The pages are paper based and will not survive being wet, so keep the lamp away from bathrooms and open windows, and close it gently rather than forcing it past its stop.

How To Set Up

Charge before first use

Connect the included cable and let Lumibook charge fully before your first session, so you get the longest runtime from the start.

Open the covers

Rotate the covers away from each other to reveal the lit pages inside. Go slow the first time to feel the range of motion.

Shape the light

Turn the covers to a fan, a cylinder or a flat sheet depending on the mood you want in the room.

Close and recharge

Fold the covers back into a book shape when you are done, then recharge as needed to keep it ready for next time.

Frequently Asked Questions

A full charge supports several hours of continuous light, enough for a dinner, a reading session or a full evening on a nightstand.

Lumibook charges through its built in port using the included cable. A few hours on charge brings it back to full power.

The covers are crafted from real wood with a light diffusing panel between them, giving it the weight and texture of an actual book when closed.

Simply rotate the covers by hand. A quarter turn gives a fan shape, a full rotation closes it into a cylinder, and anywhere between gives a flat sheet of glow.

Wipe them with a soft, dry cloth. Keep the lamp away from standing water since the light panel sits between the covers.
