Round Wooden Key Holder

Keys go missing in the gap between arriving home and putting things down. This holder closes that gap by giving them a fixed point on the wall right where you walk in. A shallow round wooden tray catches loose items, cards and coins, and the hooks beneath take the keys themselves, so both halves of the pocket emptying ritual land in one place.

The tray is the part that makes it work. A row of hooks alone handles keys and nothing else, which means the rest of what comes out of a pocket still ends up on a windowsill. Giving that material a shallow dish at the same height means the whole habit forms around one object instead of three.

Six finish combinations are available, pairing black, brown, beige or white bodies with black or gold hardware. The black and gold combination reads the most deliberate, while brown and black is the warmest against a wooden floor. The timber is finished with a low sheen sealer that resists marking from keys. Mount it at roughly shoulder height beside the door using fixings suited to your wall type, and wipe the tray occasionally with a barely damp cloth. Fix it low enough that the tray can be seen into, or things will be dropped in and forgotten about.
